ABOUT THE BOOK:
In America the Edible, Travel Channel host Adam Richman tackles the ins and outs of American cuisine, demonstrating his own unique brand of culinary anthropology. Believing that regional cuisine reveals far more than just our taste for chicken fried steak or 3-way chili, Richman explores the ethnic, economic, and cultural factors that shape the way we eatand how food, in turn, reflects who we are as a nat! ion. Ric hman uses his signature wit and casual charm to take you on a tour around the country,explaining such curiosities as why bagels are shaped like circles, why fried chicken is so popular in the South, and how some of the most iconic American foodhot dogs, fries, and sodaare not really American at all. Writing with passion, curiosity, and a desire to share his knowledge, he includes recipes, secret addresses for fun and tasty finds, and tips on how to eat like a local from coast to coast.

Part travelogue, part fun fact book, part serious culinary journalism, Richmans America the Edible illuminates the food map in a way nobody has before.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Growing up in the food mecca of New York City, Adam Richman began his love affair with food early on, sampling all the diverse culinary specialties The Big Apple had to offer. From somosas to sushi, even at a young age, Adam had a desire to taste it all.

Years later, as an undergraduate at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, Adam began a food journal to document the standout food establishments he was discovering throughout the Southeastern U.S. Though he majored in International Studies, his love of all things edible naturally drew him into the culinary world after graduation. Subsequently, he built a solid resume working in nearly every echelon of the restaurant world, from coast to coast and from the counter to the kitchen. Though he never trained professionally, Adam was able! to gain invaluable on-the-job experience in the various restaurants he worked in.

After earning a master's degree from Yale University's School of Drama, Adam traveled the United States acting in many regional theatres. The nature of his work allowed him to feed his appetite for tasting the best local dishes across America -- all of which found their way into his food journal.
On stage and behind the camera, Adam most recently preformed in a production of "Walls" at the Cherry Lane Theatre in New York City. He has also appeared in episodes of "Guiding Light," "Law and Order," "All My Children" and "Joan of Arcadia."

Adam currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
