    • Kubrick thought of every item in the costuming (the droogs' white bully outfits, with their crotch-emphatic outdoor jockstraps as well as bowler hats, not to discuss Alex's false eyelashes), furniture, decor as well as art (the giant plaster penis whi! ch Alex uses as the murder weapon) giving them as much attention as he had to the dashboards of his bomber in Dr Strangelove, the spaceships in 2001, or the painterly compositions in Barry Lyndon.
